This 182 has been California based since new. Initially based in the Southern California Inland Empire. Family owned. Then it was in storage for a few years in the central Valley. Then it was taken out of storage and this is when it was painted and got the new interior and overhauled engine. At this time the current owner purchased it and this was 17 years ago. Current owner is based in Grass Valley in North Eastern California and it was hangared and very well cared for for this period. Complete logs, No damage History, No hail. A very nice early 182P.
OWNER NARRATIVE
I purchased Skylane 96Q through a friend for my wife and daughters to learn flying and to fly in. They each decided to take on other hobbies so I was patiently waiting for at least one of them to get the bug. Did not happen. Regardless, we maintained 96Q in a heated hangar, always maintained it including annuals in top condition, flying it from time to time.
We purchased the airplane after a complete and careful reassembly after it was in storage for a number of years. We are the first owners post-reassembly of 96Q and our purchase was consummated during the Imron painting phase. Prior to closing on the purchase of the aircraft we did a substantial amount of research to ensure the airplane had no damage history. It had and has none!
The history of 96Q includes at least one flying family (owner) who flew the airplane throughout California. Once the original engine was runout and due to be majored, a family situation with the original owners forced the airplane to placed in storage.
From storage 96Q was purchased for the purpose of reassembly to full flight status, receiving a rebuilt engine and propeller. New tinted glass, leather interior, and a classic White, Navy Blue, and Gray Imron paint scheme was added to the reassembly project. Again we purchased 96Q just prior to the Imron paint scheme being applied and were involved in that phase. We test flew the plane at Long Beach, Ca airport for a day and I flew it home the next to Livermore Muni in Northern California. Great flight, zero issues!
N7396Q has always been hangared and cared for by competent, certified mechanics and its documentation always kept current and in order. Our hangars always included heaters.
The propeller was replaced with a new prop due to mechanical issues internal to the original and not prop damage nor a prop strike.
96Q is a joy to start, taxi, fly, easy to look at, meets its design expectations, comfortable when loaded, and has low times on the airframe, engine, and propeller. A great airplane to be: used, proud of, and appreciated for many years to come!
